Parent & Teen Coaching

I coach teenagers to become mature, responsible, successful, happy, well balanced young adults...
and I coach their parents so that “parenting” feels easier and more enjoyable.

As parents, we often joke that there’s no instruction manual. With my own teen, we try our best, make mistakes, and often wonder if we’re doing “the right thing”.

Raising a teen can be challenging…. but it can also be a lot of fun.

As parents, all we want is for our children to have the best start in life….

Raising a teen can be challenging…. but it can also be a lot of fun.

As parents, all we want is for our children to have the best start in life….

… so how do we end up yelling, avoiding, pleasing, arguing, giving or getting the silent treatment…. and going to bed at night wondering “what am I doing wrong?”

These are some of the main issues that parents have:

  • Amount of time their teen is in front of a screen
  • Worried that their teenager lacks direction and ambition
  • That their teen doesn’t help out around the home
  • That, no matter how hard they try, their teen doesn’t listen

As well as raising my own family, I’ve worked with teenagers and their parents for over 20 years. I still haven’t written the manual, so I work with parents and their teenage children, starting from where they are, clarifying what everyone’s goals and concerns are, and creating a relationship that improves family dynamics, communication, and empowers each person to achieve their goals.

Your teen will discover a sense of purpose, set goals that they want to achieve, and develop the confidence and discipline to see them through. Whatever they want for themselves will become available and achievable.

Each teenager, parent, and family is different. I use evidence-based strategies to help each person identify their core values and beliefs, build open and honest communication, and develop relationships that work for everyone in the family.

Imagine a week at home like this:

  • You enjoy a family meal and then, without asking, your teen starts cleaning the dishes.
  • On a school night you peek into your teen's room ready to say, “do your homework” and find them already doing it.
  • Your teenager asks for some money to go out with friends, and they look you in the eye and say, "Thank you. I love you."
  • It's a rainy evening and your teen asks you, "Do you want to watch a movie together?"
  • When you go to bed, every night, feeling like a great parent.
  • And when your teen feels that they have the best parents on the planet, and are ready to take themselves on and live an amazing life.
